From film scores to art pieces, NOah can compose for whatever you may need

One of Noah’s biggest passions is to compose. He loves writing music and has received high praise for it. Receiving high recognition in high school for his forward thinking and unconventional uses of instruments to write outside of the box music, through to work at Massey University where he was given praise for his work in composition papers. Find below some of Noah’s work and if you’d like to get in touch with him to see what work Noah could do for you, you can do so through the contact page here.

A piece of film score composed to accompany a two-minute excerpt from the 1970 film “Cold Sweat” directed by Terence Young.

Taking influence from the likes of Michael Giacchino’s “The Incredits” - from “The Incredibles” and Monty Norman’s “James Bond Theme” from the “James Bond” series of films, the piece was written to accompany and enhance the piece of film.

The intent of this sound installation was to bring awareness to the growing noise pollution that is occurring in our oceans. Marine life is feeling the effects of man-made machine objects and from my experience the general population doesn’t seem to even know that it’s a problem.

Doing many hours of research on the problem itself me and Josie wanted to put together an installation that somewhat replicates what it might be like for marine life to try and cope in the growing noise pollution. Particularly we focused in on what it’s like for animals who live deeper in the ocean, where it’s much darker and echo- location across long distances is used to communicate between animals. To recreate this on land we wanted to use a stairwell as our space as it is a naturally reflective surface with reverb that keeps noise going longer than you might want it to and also so that we could have one person stationed at the top of the stairs and one person stationed at the bottom of the stairs to replicate the fact that these animals use sound as their main source of communication, and we rely heavily on sight. So because humans are taking away the ability for these animals to communicate effectively, we were also taking away the aid of sight to communicate effectively.

A piece of film score composed to accompany a four-minute excerpt from the 1960 film “Horror Hotel The City of the Dead” directed by John Llewellyn Moxey.

When approaching this composition, I wanted to go for a minimalistic drone feel focusing in more on textures, whilst also putting in enough detail and small ideas here and there to make the piece of music interesting enough to listen to without cluttering and making the music sound over complicated. Initially planning out the composition I had a rough idea as to the kind of music I wanted to write. Taking inspiration from such horror films from Stephen King book adaptations such as “IT” and “The Shining” and using composition conventions of the horror genre.
