Paper Plates is an alt-pop duo based in Wellington NZ. Inspired by ‘staring at the ceiling’ kind of days, the artist duo focuses their music on capturing emotions through explosive build ups and immersive soundscapes. Artists influences including Beach House and LCD Soundsystem, this dynamic duo will send you swirling into mood spaces blended with synths, guitar swells and smoky vocals.
Consisting of powerful vocalist and eccentric drummer/multi instrumentalist, the two artists met in 2017 and clashed their past influences of classical, jazz, psychedelic and pop to create a blended soundscape that will send you into a trance.
Paper Plates debut EP “Playground Walls” is now out on all platforms and has received rave reviews. Broken 8 Records called it “Essential new listening” and featuring on NZ Musician Magazines Spotify Playlist“Playground Walls” set out to start a conversation in mental health and wellbeing, both in the music industry and wider NZ community.
